How it works

On Waves service on board the vessel is composed of a rack and a cable network linked to existing VSAT infrastructure through CAT5 cabling.

Calls are routed from the vessel to a terrestrial gateway of your existing VSAT provider and from this point directly to our own GSM core network for call processing.

On Waves service will be automatically switched-on as soon as the vessel enters international waters which in general is 12 nautical miles. Upon activation passengers will receive a Welcome SMS announcing service availability.

Mobile phones will display “On Waves” as the network service provider. Some older phones this could simply be our Maritime Network Code which is “ IS-08”.

How and When to Install

On Waves´ technical team works with your company based on GA plans and by conducting an in situ inspection to locate ideal locations for antenna installation. We will then submit a comprehensive plan for your review and begin implementation following joint review and agreement on statement of work.

 Depending on each vessel´s architecture, itineraries and rotations, a full implementation takes less than ten days.

Through extensive collaboration and partnerships with the biggest yards On Waves has implemented on board communication systems for some of the biggest ferry and cruise vessels across the world.

Maintenance

On waves service is maintenance-free for your company, with globally available on-site assistance when required. Core maintenance activities are conducted remotely, and our technical team is ready to travel and solve any unforeseen issues. On Waves supports all maintenance and service upgrade costs.
