How it works ?
On-Waves service will be automatically switched-on as soon as the vessel enters international waters which in general is 12 nautical miles or in some cases beyond 2 nm following ITU and GSMA rules and recommendations. Upon activation passenger’s mobile phones will display “On-Waves” or “IS-08”. If allowed by their home carrier, passengers will receive a Welcome SMS announcing service availability.
Calls are routed from the vessel to a terrestrial gateway of your existing VSAT provider and from this point directly to our own GSM core network for call processing.
On-Waves terrestrial links are connected to all major Gateways, for both Satellite connectivity purposes and for International GSM, GPRS/EDGE and CDMA call terminations. All links are redundant.
