How it works ?
On-Waves service for fishing fleets works in two different ways: either a per vessel installation, like for Merchant marine vessels or an installation on a single vessel that may cover a sea surface of 8nm of circumference. In the first case, each vessel is a unique “floating cell”. In the second case, there is just one “floating cell” but any other fishing vessel of the fleet that will be fishing in the vicinity of 8nm or less, will automatically be covered by that vessel’s On-Waves network coverage.
On-Waves service will be automatically switched-on as soon as the vessel enters international waters, which in general is 12 nautical miles. Upon activation users will receive a Welcome SMS announcing service availability.
Calls are routed from the vessel to the terrestrial gateway of your existing VSAT provider and from this point directly to our own GSM core network for call processing.
On-Waves specific maritime roaming agreements, under full compliance with BARG46 regulations, linked to our platform, offers worldwide coverage; on waves, on air and on-land.
